Genetic testing in Portugal is governed by specific legislation: the Law n°12/2005 of 26 January 2005.

In this section you can find more detailed information on the rights of users of genetic testing according to this Law.

A distinction was made between the right to informed consent, the right to information about his or her health, the rights regarding the medical file, the right to privacy, the prohibition of discrimination and the use of predictive tests all in relation to users of genetic services.
